Generations: Strengthening Women and Families Affected by HIV/AIDS
#

Centerforce is a non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen individuals and families affected by incarceration through a comprehensive system of education and support. Their new Women Visitor’s Project, funded by the National Aids Fund’s Generations program, begins Summer 2007. The primary goal of the Women Visitors Project is to reduce the incidence of HIV for women visiting incarcerated loved ones at San Quentin State Prison in California. The intervention strategies use trained peer health educators to conduct project activities, including outreach to the women’s visiting community, with information about the project, community and county specific services available, and information about health and visiting issues such as HIV, HCV and STIs.

As the evaluator for this pilot project, Abundantia will develop an evaluation plan and tools, and utilize a mixed-methods evaluation to capture quantitative and qualitative process and outcomes data for individual clients served by Centerforce, the peer health educators, and the organization itself.
